Glory

The strong wind event that occured last night into the early morning hours was worthy of attention today (See Taylor Mountain, E Albright Avalanches). There were very obvious signs of wind scour and loading in upper elevations and specific, exposed terrain in the middle elevations.  Snow surfaces changed drastically from yesterday with wind packed or scoured surfaces on westerlies, loaded on north through east, and moist on southerlies. Warm temps with clear skies warmed snow surfaces, but no wet loose activity observed with the help of light cooling wind (road cuts exempt). The overlying slab above the persistent weak layer has certainly become more firm and cohesive with increased temps and wind.
