Similar snow and weather obs to those reporting from the southside of the pass. Perhaps the most notable thing today was after remote triggering a D1 while setting the Christmas tree skin track (see avalanche tab for info), and going to investigate the slide, we had a notable collapse. This was likely the faceted snow below the crust. While recent snowpits have still shown propagation at the November facets, activity on that layer decreased during the most recent warm up and the snowpack's adjustment to that load following the storm cycle that ended with the rime and rain crust on 12/10. Today's collapse, following the slide, could be noteworthy as the rime/rain crust and its ability to bridge or not in certain locations will be be tested as we add more water weight with warm storms on the horizon. Cracking in the most recent snow while putting in the track up Christmas Tree. S1-S2 with graupel, strong SW winds, and warm temps were creating upside down conditions in open terrain.
