Quick Observation

We skied up to Fraser Ridge today and also spent the day in Fraser Chutes. Last night approximately 15 cm new snow fell. In the alpine we observed a 5 cm soft slab that was reactive when trail breaking. Alpine ski conditions were approximately 20 cm to 50 cm (where blown in) on top of last weeks wind slab or wind crust (in some areas you could feel a bit of a crust under the new snow). Alpine winds were brisk - light NE. At treeline and below, there is upwards of 55 cm of storm snow sitting on the wind slab from last week. No cracking, whumfing, or slab development observed in this storm snow at TL and below. No wind noted at TL and below. No avalanches noted during the day. Heard the highways bombing though!
