Early season quality

50+cm of new storm snow from two back to back systems with little wind. New snow was sitting on a 1-2cm faceted layer that failed in comparison test at 5 medium. Settling and whoomphing noises were widely experienced and it seemed to be concentrated near gullies or area with possible higher moisture concentration. There was a knife hard ice crust at 60-70cm depth that was unreactive.
