We had low expectations when we left the parking lot at Corbin's. With 17 vehicles there and no recent snow, we figure everything would be tracked up quickly, if it wasn't already. We were further discouraged on the way up, as a crust was widespread on solar aspects. However, it was snowing pretty decently - probably 1-2 cm per hour throughout the day - and I'd estimate about 10 cm covered the old skin track as we approached the ridge top.
We skied a short run down the backside and enjoyed some fantastic deep powder. Our biggest concern was sluffing in very steep terrain. Trail breaking was about boot deep on the way back up to the top. Going down the front side, we were happy to find there was enough new snow to mostly bury the crust and hide old tracks. We experienced sluffing on the crust, but there was no slab formation in the new snow yet.
All in all, a great day.
