Dome for the day.
Today we had a lovely time at the Dome, meadow skipping along while we assessed the freezing level and wind effect in exposed terrain.
Arriving at the first meadow off the trail we were pleasantly surprised to find it cold with a slightly lower freezing level than our previous day trip to Seaton. Snow in the meadows if untracked was still soft and provided some great riding.
We ascended Dome mountain and found wind from the South West moderate gusting to strong with significant rime build up at ridge top.
We completed our tests on a N facing lee slope and found multiple layers of wind slab and storm interfaces in the top 50cm. Non of these layers yielded results in our extended column tests.
A great day bopping around a great sledding area with plenty of non avalanche terrain!
