Pleasant skiing on the front side of Harvey today! Chilly start down low (-22) with surprisingly low snow level in the trees (5-50cm) until just before subalpine, climbed up into the inversion and enjoyed warmer temps of about -10 to -15. Nearly zero wind all day, HS just below the ridge 110cm. Wonderful preserved boot top powder in sheltered areas on south/southwest aspects, gradually transitioning to 2-5cm ski pen on a firm, supportive snowpack (a thin wind skin in spots but by no means unpleasant breakable crust), and finishing with your classic rock-hard Babines styrofoam-rime on the ridge. No signs of instability or recent avalanches on anything we travelled on or observed, but we stuck to mellow terrain today. Great day to enjoy the sunshine and “warmth”!
