We went to Barkerville, Ground Hog Lake, to assess how last weekend's snowfall was bonding to the old surface. Since the newer, denser snow fell onto loose unconsolidated snow, the storm slab is lurking longer than usual. Which means the riding looked and felt really decent but the storm slab was reacting in our snowpack tests and there was real potential for triggering avalanches. So for now we are staying away from and off the 30deg or more slopes while we wait for this storm slab to settle.
