Quick Observation

Got a couple laps on Forum Ridge. Wind was blowing good up at ridge level but was very mellow most of the time when protected by trees. It snowed on and off through the day, heavy at times. Good riding conditions for the upper half, ok down lower. Needs more coverage but we managed alright with only 1 stump altercation.

Weather

Moderate blowing snow at ridge top but hardly blowing down along Cameron Lake

Snowpack

We performed at extended column test. There was about 15cms storm snow that failed quickly but didn’t propagate and only after banging on the shovel for a while did we get a collapse (which also didn’t propagate) halfway down the midpack. There’s a layer of faceted snow about 60cms down but it was reasonably stable (from our observation). We kind of expected the snowpack to be a bit deeper where we dug the pit considering it was just on the Lee side of a well wind blown ridge, however it wasn’t.
