Hero’s Knob

Skied the Hero’s Knob loop from Purple Knob. As others identified, lots of old crowns that appeared to propagate over thin spots on solar aspects. Sweet 16 skied really well other than the snow being really slow! The creeks are finally starting to fill in, really late for that, but still some open water in spots which would be rather horrible to contend with in these temps

Lots of crowns visible on the approach and along the road. Mostly in steep, solar aspects with possible thin spots. Propagation was significant - I’d be weary of those aspects for a while despite the cold

Really cold - nice in the sun, but north aspects were piercing! It would not be good to have an accident or gear malfunction in a shaded aspect - also count on skiing and ski outs being way slower than you’re used to in these temps!
