Recent natural avalanche activity and reactive windslab in lee features at tree line today. We went to assess the reactivity of new windslabs at tree line this morning. We’ve had 17cm of new snow out at Fraser this week. With the howling south west winds, the new windslabs were up to 50cm deep on lee features. We saw evidence of a natural avalanche cycle on north & north east facing features. Testing small low consequence slopes we found the new windslabs were reactive to ski cuts. Weather wise; after a period of high pressure last night, the next weather system moved in around midnight bringing strong winds and 7cm overnight. The winds were cranking on tree line ridges this morning. Limited visibility today.
