Silly walk with ominous consequences

Ski-Touring in KHMR side country. Breaking trail across steep concavity experienced a waaaaay bigger than expected whumpf! 8m by 6m area dropped several cms and cracked above skier. Having crossed into sparsely treed slope the we had just decided minutes before to space out extra. Spooky to think how our combined weight could have triggered a small slide and buried us both. Transitioned at the next safe spot and traversed back to resort boundary. While traversing back Saw numerous Down tracks from previous riders completely obliterated by avy derbies in any remotely open steep areas.
