Quick Observation
Planned to ski sweet 16 but turned around due to bad conditions. Dug a pit on a 30 degree East facing slope in the bowl and performed an extended column test. A layer about 7 cm deep fractured and propagated at ECT 1 (First wrist tap). We think this has to do with it being very moist from both rain and melting. Another layer, approximately 50cm depth (pictured) fractured and propagated with a light-moderate wack of the shovel. We also witnessed a natural size 1 slab avalanche on a south-southeast facing slope. Other groups in the area noticed whumpfing. Generally unpleasant ski conditions on both the ascent, where snow was sticking to our skins, and on the descent, where it was extremely sticky.
