Quick report

I drove to Crawford Notch today in hopes of skiing one of the lines off of Webster. Upon reaching Wiley House I decided on Landslide Gully. Snow coverage was generally good apart from a section that appears to have slide atop one of the ice flows leaving exposed ice and bedrock. Presumably this occurred during last weekend’s storm. Snow conditions were variable: sections of firm, supportable snow, pockets of soft snow, a well as a breakable crust which led to knee deep postholing. No signs of instability were observed. The top half skied quite well, although the narrow chute variation does not have enough snow to ski continuously. Below the ice step the skiing was more technical due to the variable snow and thinner coverage.
