Quick report

No issues in sheltered terrain below treeline in this area.  Facets are present below the recent storm snow on shady aspects and could pose a threat on drifted terrain features where slabs have formed or in sheltered areas if it snows more tonight.

We produced a couple of soft collapses and shooting cracks when we encountered drifted snow at ridge top. At this location the drifting was only present immediately below the ridge top and posed no real avalanche problem. Facets beneath the new snow would be a problem in places with more snow or wind drifting.

Small amounts of wind drifting on this 11,000 foot ridgetop from the previous night. No snow through 2pm, with 4" overnight.

Snowpack

We toured below treeline on northerly aspects.  A melt/freeze crust was present on most terrain below the recent storm snow with a thin layer of facets between.  Not enough new snow to cause a problem outside of drifted terrain.  Snow surfaces became moist on northerly slopes by the afternoon.
