4" of medium density snow mixed with graupel made for great "spongy" conditions. I suppose my expectations were low, but the skiing was really good for such a minimal amount of new snow. We'll take anything we can get these days! Old tracks could still be seen under the new snow but they were soft and surprisingly didn't affect the quality of the skiing. Slopes with a southerly tilt were warming mid day. This was noticeable with just the slightest change in aspect while descending. Snow was dense enough to form a snowball at all elevations traveled today. A uniform, softened crust under the new snow even made the dreaded south facing exit somewhat enjoyable.
I had one minor sluff release on a steep north facing slope at 10,000ft. It was 4" deep (only new snow) and ran about 20ft.
