Wind Loading

Toured up Willow Fork today to have a look at the Monitors and do some early season beacon drills. West Monitor was as expected heavily wind loaded (which didn't keep people from skiing it). We dug a quick pit on the N side near the ridge line. Snow depth was 70cm and the snowpack structure was surprisingly good in the spot we dug the pit at, going from 1F at the very bottom to 4F to fist in the upper 30cm. The upper two inches were more slabby and could easily pulled out with a shovel. I think that slab was likly much thicker just a little below our pit.
