Quick report
We intended to find small, safe test slopes with a cohesive slab over the faceted snowpack in order to see how easy it could be to create shooting cracks, or give propagating results in snowpit tests. Overall, we did not get alarming results but it would of been better to get onto slightly steeper terrain. Surface hoar was located from the road to 2,400'.

There was clear skies on the southside of Summit Lake with valley fog from Colorado Mtn north to the Hope junction. Temps were warmer than expected by the road and cold at 2400'. Calm winds, no new precipitation.
Snowpack
The snowpack along our adventure was mostly composed of faceting snow. The bottom was either a frozen crust or small basal facets. We dug a series of hand pits along our trip to 2,400'. We were targeting areas where a cohesive slab existed over the faceted snow. The slab did slide but it took some effort in all of the hand pits.
