Quick report
Toured to the top of Tumalo in the morning. At 7:30 wind was blowing from the SSW at 10-25 mph temp was 27F with little very little wind transport of snow at the peak. Climbing to the summit snow was uniform and appeared to have settled from the previous day. Found no indication of cracking or settling of the new snow. Wind direction allowed for a window of visibility to ride the East bowl. Dug a pit at 7750' on an east facing aspect just below the lip of the rim. Snow depth was 150cm down to a stout rain layer. Snow was fist hard to mostly four and three finger hardness all the way down to the ice layer. Preformed an ECT and found at ECT17 the column failed on a layer 35 cm down but did not propagate. The weak layer was almost undiscernible from the surrounding snow. A shovel tilt test also failed to get the snow to fail in a planar nature along the weak 35cm layer. Aside from failing visibility snow rode exceptionally well in the bowl.
