On the yellow brick road again, but very different conditions. Fully fledged storm day in the WMR backcountry. It snowed continuously during our tour. Winds were moderate, strengthening to strong at ridgetops from the SW. Skies were obscured or overcast. Temps were below freezing, with decidedly nicer snow at upper elevations (like 6600ft) over lower (5800ft). Other obs from today paint the picture of the snowpack better than we could. As the snow stacked up, we saw some surface sloughing on steeper aspects, and got collapses both in the flats near the lake nw of Oz and also on the shoulder of Skook while reascending. See photo for the shooting cracks; snow was about 25cm thick and on a low 30s northeast aspects.
