Observed multiple shooting cracks while on the skin track. Appeared on convex slopes greater than 30 degrees. The photo was taken at 6310' on a W/SW facing slope. Cracks seemed to be isolated to the uppermost layer of the snowpack, indicating a storm slab avalanche problem. Light winds, Overcast skies with moderate current snowfall. Did not observe any shooting cracks at higher elevations on E-facing slopes that we traveled on later in the day. observed shooting cracks while on the skin track. Snowpack
Multiple buried crusts were present on this W/SW facing slope. The cracks seemed to be in the uppermost layer of the snowpack (storm slab).
