We skied up and down the south shoulder of Scotch Bonnet. New snow was 4-6" deep sitting on various surfaces. There were crusts on some slopes and weak facets on all slopes. Facets were 1-2mm in size and exist above and below crusts that were below the new snow.
New snow cracked a little where not wind-loaded. Cracked more with slight wind-loading. On a small convex slope at 10,200' I cracked out a 8-12" deep x 15-20' wide wind slab that didn't move more than a few inches due to low angle terrain below. Any slab will probably be easy to trigger due to sitting on weak snow below.
It was snowing S-1 by noon and S1 by 4pm. Winds increased from calm to light/moderate. Skies were mostly overcast all afternoon.
