Quick report

I toured Beehive Basin this morning intending to ski 4th of July Couloir. Snow was solidly frozen, though wet slide debris was visible on most steep east- and south-facing slopes from days prior. 4th of July itself had a large amount of wet slide debris, which made me unenthusiastic about skiing it. Boot-packed up the apron anyway to check conditions. I found myself sinking almost boot deep into rapidly warming snow at 9:45 a.m. Turned back at the top of the apron, estimating that I was perhaps 45-60 minutes too late to continue up safely/efficiently.

Avalanche

Wet slide avalanches on most east- and south-facing aspects in Beehive Basin.
