We rode up into Franklin Basin, a few miles north of the State Line, to have a look at the snow. We found good powder riding conditions and much-improved coverage but poor snowpack structure in our test pit.

I've included a Snow Scope snow profile. We are checking out these special probes that can give us snowpack data quickly. All we have to do is probe the snow, and the Snow Scope can give us a pretty accurate snow profile. This one is from the same area where we dug our snowpit. It's interesting to compare the snow profiles.
