Quick Observation

Today in the upper burnt riding area we dug our pit at a elevation of 1150m on a East facing aspect. We had a foot pen of 50cm. The Hight of snow was 140cm. The layers of concern are down 60cm and 120cm. The layer that is down 60cm is wet heavy snow sitting on a ice crust layer and in our compression tests it was reacting in the moderate range. The next layer is our persistent weak layer that is sitting down 120cm this facet layer reacted in the hard range of our compression test. These facet forms are starting to round out with the recent warm temperatures, but with this warm weather it's cause new problems to occur in the snowpack. Take caution while riding with this new storm snow sitting on the ice crust layer. Have fun and play safe!
