Quick report
Warming temperature trend and strong solar input was in full effect today. Southerly aspects at and below 9k were cooking (potential for melt freeze crust by tomorrow). Natural dry to wet loose avalanches (based on elevation) were moving on very steep terrain. These were small but accumulated decent debris piles in terrain traps. Lots of recent loose snow to shed in the coming days if temps continue to rise.
Saw evidence of wind loading in the upper elevations, but these slabs appeared stubborn along ridgelines. Above 9500' could be a different story with stronger winds. Observed several old wind slabs (D1-1.5, R1) that likely occured 1/8.
Low snow coverage exists in lower elevations.
Snowpack
The snowpack becomes drastically deeper between 7,500-8,000'. Total height of snow from 7500-9000' ranges from 120-220cm on easterly aspects. At those locations, the Christmas crust was buried 70-110cm down. The overlying slab is 4F-1F hard.
