Quick report

Large debris piles below Broken Thumb, Logjam, the Y, and the cliffy areas between these lines were observed while exiting Avalanche Canyon. Debris piles ran across the usual out track of multiple times. Medium to large broken trees were amongst the debris piles. Unsure of when these slides occurred as they were covered by yesterday’s couple inches of wet snow. I imagine they would have been observed by weekend traffic if occurred during height of storm last week. Crowns were hard to see as they likely started well above, though we did see 2-3’ crowns on a few aprons below cliff lines. Amateur hypothesis - smaller wet slides fell off the hanging snowfields and avalanche paths of the N side of 25 short and triggered persistent slabs on the aprons and lower snowfields. We witnessed one small patch of snow release above some cliffs as we were exiting. The number of slides encountered while exiting and the size of each of them surprised our group. Compared to smaller slides and debris piles on the south facing side of Avalanche Canyon around 4 hour couloir.
