Quick report
We toured from Tamarack to the top of the Red Cone, and we dug a pit at 9,760' on top of the Red Cone approach gully. At the outlet of Lake Mary HS was 27cm. Higher up HS ranged from 40-65 cm. Solar snow was getting wet as we climbed, and we noted roller balls on a West aspect of the Sherwin Ridge. Higher elevation slopes with a North aspect showed signs of stripping from the recent North Winds. Our pit revealed a rain crust 11 cm above the ground, sitting atop large faceted grains likely left over from our October snow. Ski conditions were a mixed bag, ranging from soft, shaded powder to windboard and a variety of breakable crusts. Coverage was surprising, and we hit fewer rocks than previously expected.
