Whitney Zone

Quite south of our area, so let me know if this is irrelevant to yall... Observations all taken between Monday 3/17 and Wednesday 3/19. Snow felt pretty dang stable most of the way up (until about 12000') with HS anywhere from 20cm to 200cm depending on aspects. Once above 12k, there was consistently about 35-45cm of fresh snow on top of a thick and supportable wind crust, with anywhere from 60cm to 100cm of facets below this wind crust. I assume this facet layer goes to the ground but I did not dig in to find out. This wind crust came to the surface around 12,500' and was pretty scary to move around. Around this point I planted my axe into the south facing slope below Iceberg lake and I felt the slope around me vibrate. I turned us around and we attempted another route up to Iceberg, same deal... this was enough for me and I turned us around there and we descended. A good trip with varying weather conditions and nice temps in the end. Going back up Saturday, planning to dig in a bit more once (hopefully) I'm at the base of the MR of Whitney... if there is anything yall want me to get more details on holla at me!
