Quick report
I climbed and skiied Dogleg Chute on morning of Sat May 2. Freeze on Fri night was not super hard, and the boot-deep new snow from the past couple weeks on steeper north facing terrain doesn’t seem to have totally cooked down yet and solidified. At about 11:30am on the upper apron above the chute a couple natural roller balls let loose, so I decided to head down from where I was a few hundred vert below the summit. Skiied down cautiously to make sure every couple turns that nothing was sliding behind me or with me. Some things moved a bit on a few turns, but nothing notable and they didn’t go far. The skiing was better and firmer in the lower part of the chute. After returning to the trailhead I ate lunch and went for a walk. As I was driving out from the trailhead about 3:30 I looked back at the mountain and saw the remains of this sizable wet slide that came down sometime after I descended. Looks like it ran full width of the chute and ran for hundreds of vert lower on the bottom apron. I didn’t have binoculars do I couldn’t see how high up it started. I don’t know if it ran two minutes or two hours after I came through. Spooky! Sunday I skiied north face of Black Mtn and the colder night Sat combined with no sun and colder temps Sun (including some mid-day snow) kept things more solid.

Wet slide
