Quick report
Our party of 4 headed up into the Marion Lake Basin assessing and being cautious of the days hazards. The first hazard being the wet and slushy highway 2. Overnight snow at the Izaak Walton was measurable, around 6 inches and the skies at 9 am were partially clear and not snowing. It was a welcomed start to the day. We were trail breaking once off the groomed track yet yesterdays tracks were still visible. Just below the lake the snow storm began without any winds. There was no cracking in our skin track up the s side to repeater ridge and not much loading. The new snow above 6500 measured around 1 foot of overnight snow and was right side up on top of the dense snow yesterday. We skied multiple S facing runs off repeater ridge with each run getting filled in fresh and the skiing got even better. There was 1 other party we saw out skiing today. It accumulated another 6 -10 inches of nice powder today and the winds were light all day. Our early ski tracks were filling in later in the day. We exited down the N side to Dickey creek, no sluffing or cracking, great tuns, right above the road it got thicker, no moving snow . After poling and skating the road back to the Izaak Walton it was still snowing at 630 when we returned to the truck.
