Quick Observation

Had a look up Patterson SE coulior feeling hopeful that a tight feature would be a good choice for the day. Coulior itself had flushed a few days ago and had a nice 5-10cm refresh over top. Flush had originated from 3/4 up and once above into the more open alpine pocket we started to find buried wind slab over top facets. 10-15 of low density powder with a thin wind skiff on top, sat over 10-25cm windslab on top of facets that gained a little density to the the deeper you probed. Felt like the slab might take the weight of a skier but also felt like that if it popped it would certainly propagate the whole pocket. Weather was frigid cold -28°c at car, solar was nice but not affecting snowpack at all. Light wind at dawn flushing cold air but little to none during the day. Coulior main skiied well but alpine wind slab strikes again.
