On Monday March 2nd there was 6 inches of new snow that fell in the AM, warming temps and sun in the afternoon triggered two natural size 2 loose snow avalanches on steep west aspects. March 3rd was cool, clear and very windy on ridges, we observed snow plumes, wind-loading, and sloughing on steep north faces. On Wednesday March 4th we received 8 -10 inches of snow through the day, we observed one natural size 1 storm slab on a steep north east aspect. Throughout our tours we were performing extended column tests on the the 2/8 layer. The 2/8 and the facets just below it were easily identified at mid elevations on north slopes. It is buried 60-80 cm down depending on location. Our ECTs produced propagating and non propagating results on this layer, (ECTP21, ECTN13).
