Quick report
Very NE-erly windy day today that shut down Timberline lift operations prior to opening. Noticed plumes coming over Hood from highway enroute mid-morning. Respite found somewhat in gullies and below treeline (where heat of a warm, full sun day took over and created very soft conditions on exit to Glade trail 5400’-5200’ (noted soft snow instabilities on west facing gully wall beginning at that elevation too) and slowish, but fairly full coverage exit to Govy Blossom). Also, to correct my obs from yesterday, from vantage today could see additional crown piece below Castle Crags implying multiple wind slabs versus one very widely propagating one.
Avalanche
Multiple small to medium wind slabs on East-facing gully wall bw 5.9K’-7K’, incl a D1.5-2 w roughly 2’ crown and large deep debris pile capable of full burial despite short path and another smaller one that may have stepped down below initial layer. Likely cornice triggered (saw a few small chunks shed as well).
