Quick report
Fresh, gloppy snow accumulating (about 4-6in in the basin area) on the recent February ice crust. This snow was a little unstable to skin across and would occasionally slide under my ski, but no widespread instability. Creeks are fully open, but the snow bridge to cross Commonwealth Creek is still very stable. Lots of signs of old tree bombs, but temps and rain have softened these icy areas up. Skiing downhill was better than expected, but the fresh snow still glopped to my ski bases and was a little heavy to turn in. But hey, it's fresh snow, so can't complain. The upper part of the luge track on the way out skied pretty well with fresh snow on top of firm crust, then the bottom of the track had become affected by rain since I'd started my tour and was very grabby.
Avalanche
Old avalanche debris (likely a D2) observed on base of the eastern slopes of Cave Ridge. These debris are old enough to have softened up with higher temps and rain. While the chunks were easy to ski through, some parts were still pretty firm.
