Hey guys we road Owl’s Head Riding Area and found good snow. Started off in the trees at Biomass which was untouched and full of deep snow! Lots of digging. Then up to the cabin. From there we crossed “Skinny Ridge” which was VERY skinny from wind lips and dropped into the west - north west- bowls of Morton’s peak. Probably a fresh 20cms that had not been tracked up yet. West aspect alpine slopes looked pretty cross loaded in that zone. Then we dropped down to Morton’s lake and up through the pass. We stayed lookers left going up in the trees trying to minimize our exposure time from the big steep north aspect slopes. Once we made it up and over the pass the riding conditions weren’t as good. Hard wind scoured snow with 10 - 20 cms of fresh on top. No signs of recent avalanches or any big instabilities. A little dry loose point releases on very steep north east aspect from storm snow. Had a few turbos rip up some big west slopes with no movement what so ever. But I think it was quite wind scoured. Tree riding is where the great snow is at below tree line! Heads up, watch for terrain traps and ride smart!!
