Quick report
Beautiful bluebird day. Hardly a cloud in the sky or a lick of wind. Drove to a bit past the YAB trailhead. Skinned from the car - rocky skiing back down though. Skied a couple laps on NNE facing aspects by Skagway Pass. Dug a pit on a NNE facing aspect at 5600ft. HS 105cm. ECTX. Summary of layer hardness: fist new snow, then 4f or 1f for the rest with a few crusts. Then a 1f rain crust and a few much smaller rain crusts then that bottom layer was fist hard and was wet and seemed faceted. We were surprised by that ground layer. With all of those crusts we expected some reactivity but test results didn't show anything and we didn't see any signs of instability. Things were starting to warm up by around noon and I expect there would start to be point releases and roller balls on south facing slopes but we left before then. There was also a bit of surface hoar on shady aspects.
