Powderhouse Peak

Intense snowfall at Powderhouse this morning. About a foot of soft snow was present in below tree line close to Hwy 89 and close to double that amount near the summit. Stepping above skin tracks while still in the trees did not show any cracking. On the summit ridge above tree line the winds were intense and there were large areas of firm scoured snow on the windward side of the peak and sculpted wind slabs. Skinning along the edge of the wind features caused multiple shooting cracks in front of my skis. While similar features existed in the trees, the snow on these features was less cohesive  and I didn't see any cracking in this zone.
