Quick report
A large 2ft cornice crack was observed at the summit of Mt. St. Helens, approximately 15–20 feet from the edge. About 10 feet further back, additional cracking was visible—mostly covered by snow—with evidence of climbers post-holing through. After an overcast morning at lower elevations, it was a clear, sunny day with temperatures between 30–40°F. At the crater rim there were strong intermittent gusts of wind. During the late afternoon ski descent via the Worm Flows route, multiple small (D1) wet loose avalanches were skier-triggered on sun warmed south- and east-facing slopes.
