Quick report
Skinning up there was isolated snow breaking out from under our feet but no signs of propagation . Also dug a few hand pits at the upper section of the lower snowfields down to the crust layer, found generally uncohesive slab that was breaking in my hands as I pulled as well as graupel which in some areas had a significant amount. around 12:00pm had noticed the wind shift becoming more leeward.
Avalanche
There was a natural avalanche in Hillman's Highway occurring around 12:30. We had skinned up through the Christmas tree and observed no avalanche debris in Hillmans, after skiing down the lower snowfields side we returned to the Hillmans side where a large debris field had formed. Unclear where the avalanche had started from, from the top of the Christmas we were unable to see a crown line as visibility had become very low.
