Quick report

Started up the NE Bowl ridge around 10am and descended Church Bowl around 1pm. Timing was ideal for corn skiing. Observed ~1” of new snow on north-facing and shaded aspects. Near the saddle, snow was noticeably wind-affected. The new snow had formed a thin (~1”) wind slab that occasionally cracked when breaking trail, but fractures were small and lacked propagation. A quick hand pit revealed a 3–4” slab over weak, faceted snow. While this was somewhat concerning, compression testing did not produce failures and the structure appeared isolated, so we proceeded with caution. Church Bowl had good coverage and skied well, with quality corn conditions around 1pm.
