Quick report

Grass Lake looks like the beginning of the season with open areas of flowing water and a patchiness throughout, indicating melt-out. The mostly flat meadows had soft surface snow with ski pen about 1cm. As I ascended in the trees, it quickly became harder except for some sun exposed areas. Above 8000 ft, it was hard everywhere. I started to see graupel at about 8000 ft as well. The descent wasn't too bad. Somewhat like bumpy groomed runs. The snow was slow at the bottom but not as slow as it has been over the past few days.

Snowpack

On these north aspects, surface snow was soft and slow in the flatter areas but was bulletproof with some graupel and no ski penetration in the treed steeper areas above 8000 ft.
