Avalanche Information

There is a large avalanche cycle happening in the Apex Backcountry following this weeks storm. 4 significant slides were reported in the last 48hrs, with one person partially buried. The triggers for the slides include remote, accidental, and ski cut. Secondary South - Sz 2 Secondary Mainline/ Pencil Chutes - Sz 2.5 Ron's Ridge - Sz 3 Powder 8 Bowl - Sz 2-3 At least two of the slides have gone on basal facets, with crowns 90cm+, running full path.

Weather

Winds were predominately NW but switching direction throughout the bowls constantly and running back up slope.

Snowpack

Snowpack observations from Fridays (2020-02-07) Sz 2 slide on Secondary South. Two significant whoomfs were felt on the SE aspect just above the area of the slide. CTM12,19, down 119cm (SP), under ice crust and on top of facets 6mm.
