Went into Bakers Brook Fjord today and skied a south facing couloir. Conditions were variable but generally it was about 20cm of light powder on top of an extremely hard crust. The powder mostly sluffed off our line while skiing making for difficult icy turns. We called it about 50m before the top as the snow was becoming more wind packed and soft-slabs were beginning to form. Likely similar story in other immediate lee features. Definitely a fair bit of wind transport so with the hard temperature crust buried under the new snow, I would watch out for reactive wind slab in the coming days. Lower down on the mellower section the new snow was fairly supportive and so I suspect that the tree skiing quality would be recovering nicely from the recent warm spell.
