Quick Observation
Did a circumnavigation from Twin Cairns to Quartz Ridge having a look at the Monarch on the way, seeing different aspects from morning to afternoon. Good Skiing on NE, E and N aspects finding from 10cm to 25cm of fist snow on top of the last layer. We found some dry loose not propagating to size 1 on steeper open tree areas. On SW, S and SE aspects, from TL to BTL, we found a crust varying in size and location at the surface of the snowpack. Started to punch through the crust at 1870m and below in Burnt forest. Could not find the Jan 3rd SH on solar aspects. Might be isolated because only facets where found down 60 where the instabilities showed on NE and E slopes. The only alpine feature skied was on the Quartz ridge at NE aspect and only fun powder skiing was found with no signs of instabilities.
