Quick Observation
Toured the Farm on Sunday. Skied an east aspect back towards Pass Lake. Lots of fresh snow out and about. There was approx. 32'' of snow sitting on top of the crust. We did not dig a pit to see the layers but a majority of the snow was new within the current storm. It snowed about 6''-8'' throughout the day and snowing heavily when we left. Skiing was excellent down to about 1250m. Skinning was very challenging with the deep snow. Snowpack diminishes quickly at lower elevations and made for a sporty ski out. Saw lots of signs of instability throughout the day. Lots of whumpfing on flatter slopes. Slabs breaking out to crust during skinning on steep unsupported slopes and around trees. Triggered a size 1/2 while skiing over a steeper roll over that went down to the old crust. It carried a lot of snow but did not run far as the slope flattened out quickly.
