Out to Stanley Mitchell from Tuesday the 23rd to Thursday the 25th. Profile dug on the middle day. Overall weather for the trip was overcast and warming to around 0°c midday with occassional breaking clouds and sun, a few fresh cms over the three days. Heavy wet snow with midday temps.
Observed settling, whoomps and shooting cracks off the skin track in open terrain approaching 30°. Kick turns collapsed on corners in steep exposed terrain on faceted layers. Heavy snow made for slower skiing but still good in the trees.
Avalanche Information
Wet loose, assumed storm snow, released off alpine rocks during warming midday. Main debris approx 20m long, large chunks and pinwheeling extended to 50m. Circled red in photos with run length indicated.
