Burstall Pass

Vi Vi, Saturday 8th February, 2025 10:38PM

Dug a pit on a tour to Burstall Pass. Snow depth at the top of the trail 145-150cm. Very stiff and packed. Compression test revealed 2 layers of potential problems. First layer fractured at 13cm from the top from the very hight impact. Second layer fractured at 45cm from the ground level. Snow below 45cm mark is pure ice grains but only very strong impact made the snow move at that depth. Overall snowpack feels very solid.
