Hero's Knob

Skied Hero's Knob today. Excellent powder for May. In the upper bowl there was 40 and 65 cm of powder sitting on a temperature crust or facet layer. Skiing was very good but was getting heavy down low around 3pm. The day was on and off convective show showers, heavy at times. We observed roughly 30 size 0.5 sluffs and several multiple size 1's off of the steep cliffs west of the bowl. None of the avalanche stepped down to the deeper layers or ran very far. Not much wind or wind affect. The rain event from 10 days has left avalanche chuckies in the bowl in some places. I recommend bringing ski crampons, skin wax, and a scraper.
