Really wet AST 1 at the Red Heather hut. Hiked from the trailhead until 1000m with barely enough coverage. Well settled HS 35 to 40cm from 1125m until the hut. Snow at the shelter is really wet and heavy. We had our skis off at 1100m descending late afternoon.

Raining at the Elfin Lakes trailhead at 9:30, started snowing at 10:15 at 1125m close to the waterfall. Periods of snow up to 1 cm/hr mixed with periods of very light rain at the Red Heather shelter late morning to early afternoon. Measured -0.2 C at the shelter at 11:30.
